Traffic Police organises road safety awareness programme

Continuing with its efforts to encourage people to follow traffic rules during the ongoing National Road Safety Month, Traffic police city on Wednesday organised roaf safety awareness programme.

The theme of the event was Ahtiyat (safety) which was attended by a large number of commuters, pedestrians and invited guests.

   

The music event organized at Polo View roadside. Several volunteers interacted with the commuters and apprised them about the need and importance of road safety.

“We are proud to be part of this awareness rally. We want to encourage people to follow traffic rules. Through our music, our message is follow safety guidelines on road to avoid accidents,” said one of the musicians who was part of the event.

Traffic cops present on the occasion also held an interaction with youngsters. They urged them to organize awareness programmes and encourage others to make roads safer in their respective localities.

“Wearing helmet, fastening seat belt and not exceeding speed limit on roads are keys of roads safety. We have to collectively respect each other’s rights. Our rights to drive on roads should not endanger the life of other commuters,” a cop told the participants.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Traffic Adil Mushtaq hoped that more youth would join the awareness campaign in coming days.

“If youth want to campaign for lower speed limits, better traffic enforcement, better facilities for safe walking and cycling, or any other road safety measures in your area, Road Safety Month is the perfect time,” he said.

“We choose music as medium to convey our message to people because it is most modest and powerful tool to connect with people,” he added.
