Srinagar, Aug 17: Residents of Astanpora area of Brein Nishat have expressed concern over excavation of land and haphazard constructions in the mountainous area saying these activities are damaging fragile eco-system in the area.
A delegation from the area said that Astanpora is mountainous, is dotted with trees and has a big stream.
“However, in absence of regulation, unscrupulous people are levelling slopes to undertake illegal constructions in the eco-fragile area. There must be a strict mechanism to prevent illegal land excavation by JCBs and ferrying of construction material,” they said.
