Two persons identified as siblings drowned in Jammu district on Tuesday, police said.
Police said Sanjana Singh (18) was clicking photographs (selfies) with her mobile phone at JiaPotaGhat along Chenab river near Akhnoor, when she lost her balance and slipped into the river. In a bid to save his sister Sanjana from drowning, her brother Sanjay Singh (25) who was also accompanying her jumped in the river, said police. However, both got drowned. SHO Akhnoor SD Singh said bodies of both the siblings have been retrieved from the river. The police said the family of the siblings hailing from Katra in Reasi district had come to pay obeisance at the local temple. The bodies have been handed over to the family after completion of medico legal formalities, police said.
