First snowfall of season occurs in Ramban upper reaches

Ramban, Feb 1: The higher reaches including Banihal, Batote, and Gool experienced season’s first snowfall last night. Rains occurred in plain areas. People got respite from prolonged dry spell after the snowfall and rains.

Rain in the low-lying areas of Ramban and snowfall in Batote, Banihal and Gool towns, Jawahar tunnel, Patnitop, Sanasar and upper reaches of Ramban district have brought down temperatures and intensified cold conditions across the district.

   

The delay in this session’s snowfall was worrying the locals, especially farmers of the area.

High altitude areas of the district including Mahu, Mangit, Pogal, Paristan Sanasar, and Nathatop also received snowfall while intermittent rains occurred at Ramban, Chanderkote, Sangaldan, Ramsu towns and other plain areas of the district.

As per reports Jawahar tunnel, Gool, Batote, Banihal, Natha top and Sanasar received two to three centimeters of snowfall.

The Metrological Center at Batote and Banihal has forecast cold conditions for the next 24 hours in surrounding areas.
