Induction of KAS officer in BOSE injustice to officers of education department: Qayoom Wani

Senior trade union leader and Employees’ Joint Action Committee (EJAC) president Abdul Qayoom Wani today termed the induction of a KAS officer as secretary Board of School Education (BOSE) as ‘injustice’ to the officers and academicians of the education department, demanding revocation of induction order.

“The government should have posted any officer from the education department because BOSE and education department are linked with each other to run the academics, examination and other activities related to student and teaching fraternity. It needs an academician to hold such an important post. By inducting a non- academic officer in BOSE reflects non-seriousness of the government towards education department. We are not against KAS officers as they are our future but adjusting them on academic posts is totally injustice to the officials working in education department. The officers of education Department need encouragement, empowerment and ownership to run the department smoothly whether it is BOSE, school education or higher education,” a spokesman of the EJAC, in a statement today, quoted Qayoom Wani as having said while addressing a meeting of the leaders of various forms of school education and higher education departments at EJAC central office here.

“The leaders of College Teachers Association (CTA) headed by Prof Tariq Ashai,  +2 Lecturers’ Forum headed by Dr Manzoor Ahmad and Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum were present at the meeting,” the spokesman said.

“All the leaders showed strong resentment and anguish over the induction of KAS officer as secretary BOSE. The leaders in one voice termed the induction of KAS officer as Secretary BOSE as onslaught on the honour, respect and dignity of the officials and academicians working in the education department,” the spokesman added.

“Qayoom Wani and all the leaders on the occasion urged upon the Governor N N Vohra, advisors Khurshid Ahmad Ganie and B B Vyas, chief secretary and  secretary school education to revocation of order posting KAS officer in BOSE to restore the promotional benefits and honour of the officers of the education department as otherwise the leaders of various organisations of school education, higher education along with BOSE will be compelled to protest against the order,” the statement reads.

The leaders of various Forums present at meeting include Prof Tariq Ashai, Dr Manzoor, Muhammad Akbar Khan, Prof Farooq Ahmad Pandit. Muhammad Afzal Bhat, Mir Bashir, Prof Dr Altaf Parra, Pir Nisar Ahmad, Mir Fayaz, Prof Zahoor Ahmad, Showkat Ali Beig, Altaf Ahmad, Qayoom Sanie, Muhammad Shafi Wani and others.
