Muslim League aghast

Muslim League (M) Jammu and Kashmir, headed by incarcerated senior leader Masarat Aalam Bhat, today strongly condemned the shifting of Kashmir prisoners to outside state jails.

“These prisoners are meted out ill-treatment which is open violation of agreements made in Geneva Convention 1929,” the League spokesman Sajjad Ayoubi, in a statement today, said.

The spokesman expressed deep anguish and concern over the worsening health condition of prisoners, saying that “they are being ill-treated and denied proper medical aid in jails.”

He said, “There is no permanent posting of doctors inside the jails nor is the bare minimum requirement of basic dispensary available. It is sheer political vendetta that detainees in outside jail are ill-treated. They are political prisoners, qualifying for more human and civilized behaviour from the captors but they are brazenly and cunningly subjects them to inhuman treatment.”

The spokesman appealed to the United Nations, Red Cross,  OIC , Amnesty International and other human rights organizations to come to the ‘rescue’ of these detainees and take steps to ensure better treatment , safety  and early release of all the prisoners lodged in different jails in and outside state.
