Oppose Centre’s wrong policies towards J&K: Congress

Pulwama: Congress Thursday urged the people to rise to the occasion to oppose the wrong policies of the Centre towards J&K and demanded a time-bound judicial inquiry into the Hyderpora gunfight.

A statement of the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) issued here said that addressing a public meeting in Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, JKPCC President Ghulam Ahmad Mir said it was high time for the people to come out and seek an explanation from the BJP government over the current situation and losses caused to the people due to its wrong policies towards J&K.

“It is the right time when people should come out and seek a positive response to their concerns, apprehensions, and the miseries they have been facing due to the policies adopted by the BJP government at Centre towards J&K,” Mir said.

He said that the Centre should work to win the hearts of the people, who were living in fear due to human losses.

“J&K is marred with misrule and mismanagement of things on the part of Centre, which will continue to remain responsible for the current security situation, rising unemployment, economic crisis fear in the hearts and minds of people due to the killings of civilians, security and police personnel,” Mir said.

He urged the Centre to come out of its “deep slumber” and change its policies towards J&K people, besides addressing the concerns of the people on account of security, economic crisis, and the highest rate of unemployment.

“How long will people of J&K suffer due to the Centre’s wrong policies and when will the democratic rights be restored in J&K,” Mir said. “People have realised that the BJP government at the Centre is least bothered about the rights of people and have taken advantage of its brute majority to punish the people, which is not acceptable and tolerable.”
