Policemen attacked, constable held hostage, released

Police on Friday said that policemen deputed to execute an arrest warrant were attacked by a mob in Budgam district and a constable was briefly held hostage.

A police spokesman in a statement said that personnel fromthe Beerwah police station were tasked to execute the non-bailable arrestwarrant issued by a court under section 512 of the CrPC against the  accused, resident of the Waragam area. “Thepolice party came under attack soon after reaching the village.        The constable, who was held hostage bythe mob, was eventually let go,” the spokesman said.

   

 He said that a casehas been registered under relevant sections of the law and an investigationinitiated.
