Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will chair the Unified Headqaurters on Tuesday where overall prevailing security scenario will be discussed. It will be attended by top brass of security agencies operating in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Overall security scenario will be discussed,” a top official of security establishment told Greater Kashmir. L G will be briefed through a power-point presentation about the prevailing security situation in J&K, anti-terrorist operations, and infiltration status,” the official said.
He said during the meeting recent militancy-related incidents and the steps being taken to for maintaining close relations with the general public and putting in best efforts to mitigate the sufferings of people will be highlighted. The official said that the LG will also be apprised about successes of security forces during the ongoing year.
Pertinently, LG Sinha on Sunday during a radio programme said that those involved in the attacks on police personnel are “trying to break unity and integrity of the nation” adding that “they will never succeed in their designs”. Last week in a militant attack on Police Bus in Zewan, three policemen including a Assistant Sub-Inspector were killed and 11 others were injured. The injured are undergoing treatment at 92 Base Hospital here.
“LG will be appraised about the fact that due to the killings of a large numbers of terrorists of all outfits specially their leaderships and the destruction of their support systems, terrorists’ Pakistan-based handlers have got frustrated and changed their strategy and started targeting unarmed policemen, innocent civilians,” the official said adding he will apprised about steps being taken to ensure that those involved in the killings are nabbed such incidents do not recur.
In needs to be mentioned here that the graph of militancy-related violence in Kashmir is showing decline so far this year as compared to year 2020. “It is lowest collateral damage in last three decades,” a senior security forces official said. “All the security agencies are carrying out operations in coordination with aim of minimum collateral damage.”
The top official said that security agencies also foiled many bids of youth who tried to join militant ranks. “With the families they were prevented and where handed over to them after proper counseling,” he said.
