14 drug peddlers arrested across Kashmir: Police

Srinagar: Fourteen drug peddlers were arrested across Kashmir and a huge cache of contraband substances and Rs 2.70 lakh were recovered from their possession, Police said Tuesday.

A statement of J&K Police issued here said that in Pulwama three drug peddlers were arrested from Gudoora Bridge Newa and on their disclosure instant raid was conducted at the residence of a notorious drug peddler Junaid Khurshid alias Junni Katta of Zasoo Tahab.

   

It said that during the raid, brown sugar, a huge quantity of poppy straw, and cash of Rs 2,70,471 were recovered from his possession.

The statement said nine other drug addicts were also arrested in the vicinity.

A case under FIR No 305/2021 was registered at Police Station Pulwama.

Meanwhile, at a checkpoint on Tahab Road, Police intercepted an individual moving in suspicious circumstances and during the search, 1200 ml of Codeine was recovered from his possession.

He has been identified as Bashir Ahmad of Tahab Pulwama.

The Police statement said that he was arrested and FIR No 308/2021 was registered at Police Station Pulwama.

In another instance, Police in Litter conducted a raid at Naina Batapora village of Pulwama and during the search, 1 kg Charas was seized from the residential house of Khurshid Ahmad Koka of Naina Batapora.

A case under FIR No 112/2021 was registered into the case.

The J&K Police statement said that in Ganderbal, a Police team apprehended a drug peddler and recovered 140 gm charas and 6 kg of Bhangpatri from his possession.

He has been identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Bajard of Laman Wangath.

A case under FIR No 132/2021 has been registered at Police Station Kangan.

In Budgam, at a checkpoint established near Hardpanzoo Crossing, Police intercepted two persons roaming suspiciously and during the search, 220 gm of Charas was recovered from their possession.

They were arrested on the spot and have been identified as Firdous Ahmad Sheikh of Larbal Dassan and Nisar Ahmad Bhat resident of Harda Latina.

A case vide FIR No 156/2021 was been registered at Police Station Beerwah.
