Kashmir Province Chess Tournament 2024 concludes

Srinagar, June 8: The U17 Boys Kashmir Province Chess Tournament 2024 concluded today, heralding a new era of chess excellence in the region. Hosted at the prestigious Srinagar Sports Club in Wazirbagh, Srinagar, the tournament witnessed spirited performances from budding chess prodigies across various age groups.

In the marquee U17 Boys category, Hamzah Malik emerged as the champion, displaying impeccable strategic acumen and determination. Rizwan Tareen secured the runners-up position with a series of impressive performances, closely followed by Malik Huzaif Bin Zahid in third place. The top two finishers have earned the coveted honor of representing the province at the upcoming JK UT State Championship 2024, which will serve as the selection event for the national championships.

   

The future stars of Kashmir chess also shone brightly. In the U7 Girls category, Fizah Faheem Masoodi and Hoor Fatima showcased exceptional talent to claim the top two spots. Meanwhile, in the U7 Boys section, Mohammad Ibaad Gundroo demonstrated remarkable skill to emerge as the undisputed champion, securing his berth in the JK UT State Championship 2024 where he aims to excel and earn a chance to represent the state at the national level.

Beyond crowning new titleholders, the tournament provided a platform for young chess enthusiasts to exhibit their skills while fostering a sense of camaraderie and sportsmanship.
