District Soil Conservation Officer conducts inspection of units in Budgam

Srinagar, Apr 24: In a move to ensure the effective implementation of soil conservation measures, Dr Mumtaz Majeed, District Conservation Officer, Budgam, today conducted a comprehensive inspection of various units across the district.

Accompanied by Zonal Officer Ahsanul Haq, second zone incharge Abdul Rahim, and other staff members, Dr Majeed visited multiple sites to assess the progress and quality of ongoing projects.

   

The inspection began at the Jawalapore Unit  Dr Majeed expressed satisfaction with the work and emphasized the importance of such initiatives in promoting sustainable water management practices.

Next on the itinerary were the Samsaan, Taqiyai Farooq, Pahnaar, and Katraj units, where fencing and plantation activities were inspected. The officer stressed the need for robust fencing mechanisms to protect the newly planted saplings and ensure their growth into healthy, mature trees.

At the Shaalnar Unit, Dr Majeed lauded the efforts of the field staff and underscored the significance of such interventions in safeguarding the region’s fragile ecosystem.

“These inspections are part of our routine efforts to monitor the progress of various conservation projects and ensure their effective implementation,” Dr. Majeed stated. “Our primary objective is to create awareness among the local populace about the importance of soil and water conservation, while simultaneously addressing the region’s pressing environmental challenges.”

The officer further emphasized the collaborative nature of these endeavours, highlighting the need for active involvement from all stakeholders, including local communities, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations.

During the inspection, Dr Majeed also interacted with field staff, seeking their feedback and addressing any concerns or challenges they might be facing. This hands-on approach underscores the administration’s commitment to fostering an environment of open communication and continuous improvement.
