BJP will support like-minded parties in Kashmir: Raina

Srinagar, Apr 28:  Amid the ongoing Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party’s Jammu and Kashmir President Ravinder Raina Sunday said that the party would extend support to like-minded parties in Kashmir.

Raina expressed confidence in the BJP’s electoral prospects, particularly in Jammu and Udhampur Lok Sabha seats, predicting significant wins.

He said that the BJP has a strong relationship with other parties in Kashmir, indicating a willingness to support deserving candidates after consulting with party workers.

Responding to queries about the demand of the BJP for deferment of polls on the Anantnag-Rajouri seat to the Election Commission of India (ECI), Raina cites challenges posed by inclement weather and road closures.

He said that the ECI had requested a report from the J&K government and the decision on the matter was awaited.

Raina said that only the Mughal Road connected Anantnag in Kashmir with Pir Panjal region’s Poonch and Rajouri districts and due to inclement weather and snowfall, the road remained closed.

He said that the area was still witnessing snowfall due to which Peer Ki Gali and Mughal Road were still closed.

About Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent speech about the ‘Mangal Sutra’ remark, Raina said, “Congress is a party which has been messed up with scams. Congress has always done worse. One should remain away from the Congress.”

He also visited the Gandbal, Batwara area of Srinagar to extend condolences to the families affected by the recent boat tragedy.

Recognising the immense loss and pain experienced by the bereaved families, Raina assured them of the party’s unwavering commitment to providing all necessary assistance and support during this challenging period.
