Ensure security audit of departmental websites, applications within month: GAD

Jammu, Mar 27: J&K government has asked all administrative departments, Heads of Departments (HoDs), Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Managing Directors of various PSUs, Boards and Corporations to ensure security audit of their departmental websites or applications through CERT-In empanelled agencies within one month, to protect the government entities against cyber threats.

Commissioner Secretary General Administration Department (GAD) Sanjeev Verma, in circular instructions, stated that the Information Technology Department had time and again issued instructions to all the administrative departments, HoDs, DCs and Managing Directors of various PSUs, Boards and Corporations to ensure security audit of their websites or applications periodically, at least once a year, in compliance with security policy, guidelines, and procedures, laid down by the CERT-In and Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India.

   

“Notwithstanding the instructions, it has been observed that a large number of websites hosted on State Data Centre by different departments are still unaudited resulting in increased risk of cyber attacks as also reported by the CERT-In,” he stated.

“Keeping in view the criticality of the matter, it is enjoined upon them to ensure security audit of their departmental websites and applications through CERT-In empanelled agencies within a month, to protect the government entities against cyber threats, failing which, the application from State Data Centre shall be discontinued or shutdown, for which the concerned Head of the Department shall bear the responsibility,” he warned.
