Seminar on ‘Water for Peace’ held

Srinagar, Mar 22: The Institution of Engineers (India), Jammu and Kashmir State Centre, Srinagar, organised a seminar ‘Water for Peace’ to mark World Water Day on Friday.

A statement of the Institution of Engineers (India), Jammu and Kashmir State Centre, Srinagar issued here said that the seminar brought together a diverse gathering of participants, including corporate members of IEI, Executive Committee members, academicians, students, and engineers.

   

The event was held under the patronage of the Chairman of the Institution of Engineers (India), J&K State Centre, Iftikhar Ahmad Hakim, who thanked all participants for their presence.

The Honorary Secretary of the institution, Jahangeer Ali coordinated the programme, ensuring its smooth execution.

Various personalities in the field of engineering and water management attended the seminar.

Ajaz Rasool, a noted hydraulic engineering expert was the chief guest on the occasion while Basharat a retired chief engineer Jeelani Kawoosa was the guest of honour.

The panel of speakers featured prominent experts who shared their insights on various aspects of water management and its implications for fostering peace.

Assistant Professor of Environmental Engineering at the Department of Civil Engineering, NIT Srinagar, Khalid Muzamil Gani gave a presentation highlighting the importance of sustainable water practices in conflict resolution.
