Baramulla, May 3: The Department of Orthopaedics at Government Medical College Baramulla on Thursday performed the first highly technical end surgery for a failed ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) procedure.
The procedure considered a significant milestone in minimally invasive techniques, has garnered attention for its potential to revolutionise orthopaedic treatments, particularly for young and active patients.
An official of the Associated Hospital GMC Baramulla said that the patient had earlier gone through a failed ACL knee surgery, performed at some other hospital.
The procedure was performed by Dr Ishtiyaq Abdullah, along with the expertise of Assistant Professor Dr Amir Nazir, and Senior Residents Dr Azhar Geelani, the surgical team, alongside technical staff including Irshad Ahmad and Aadil Ali.
The surgical feat was made possible through the collaborative efforts of a dedicated team, including anaesthesia experts headed by Dr Tahleel and supported by Mehraj ud Din.
“The seamless coordination among team members ensured the success of the procedure, highlighting the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in modern healthcare,” said Dr Parvaiz Masoodi, Medical Superintendent of GMC Associated Hospital Baramulla.
Notably, all implants utilised during the surgery were provided under the Ayushman Bharat Sehat Scheme, reflecting the government’s commitment to making advanced medical treatments accessible to all sections of society.
