Notice served to Facebook page administrator in Handwara over MCC violations

Kupwara, Apr 20: District Administration Kupwara Saturday served notice to a Facebook page administrator for flouting Model Code of Conduct, over inauguration of a public park in Maratgam Handwara.

An official communiqué in this regard by The District Nodal Officer reads that, “One The District Nodal Officer in a notice issued to one Mohammad Yousuf Hajam, son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Hajam, a resident of Sadergund Hangah Langate (administrator/manager/owner of Facebook page ‘Journalist Raja Ishaq’, has violated of Model Code of Conduct and Media Certification and Monitoring Committee guidelines for covering/telecasting the inauguration function of a public park at Maratgam Handwara for 8 minutes and 12 seconds”.

   

“It is known to everyone that the Model Code of Conduct, enforced by the Election Commission of India is operational until the election process concludes,” reads the official communiqué.

“You are hereby put on notice to respond to the violation of MCC/MCMC over posting of the news of inauguration of the public park by a public representative (DDC Member Mawer Khurshid Ahmad Dar) during the Model Code of Conduct,” reads the notice.

Directing the Facebook administrator to refrain from such activities, the District Nodal Officer Kupwara has asked the person to submit a written explanation as to why an action should not be initiated against him for flouting the set guidelines.
