ADGP L&O focuses on poll preparedness, security

Srinagar, Apr 21:  To ensure the security and smooth conduct of the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections for Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency, a high-level joint meeting was convened on Sunday by the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Law and Order, Vijay Kumar, the Additional Director General (ADG) of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Rajesh Kumar, and the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Kilo Force.

The meeting, which took place in Baramulla, was attended by several key officials including the Inspector General (IG) of the Border Security Force (BSF) and CRPF, all sector commanders, Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs), district Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs), Commanding Officers (COs), and officers of the intelligence agenciues.

   

“ADGP L&O Vijay Kumar, ADG CRPF Rajesh Kumar and GOC Kilo Force conducted a joint meeting of Police, Army, and CAPFs regarding general security situation and election-related preparedness at Baramulla today,” Kashmir Zone Police posted on X.

“IG BSF and CRPF, all sector commanders, DIGs, district SSPs, Cos, and officers of the intelligence agencies attended. Various new decisions related to anti-terrorist operations, area domination, and mobilisation of forces were taken,” it said in another post on X.

The focus of the meeting was to assess the general security situation in north Kashmir and to discuss preparedness for the Lok Sabha elections.

Various crucial decisions were taken during the meeting, particularly regarding anti-terrorist operations, area domination, and the mobilisation of forces to ensure a secure environment for the electoral process.

Speaking on the occasion, ADGP Vijay Kumar emphasised the importance of maintaining a high state of alertness and preparedness to tackle any potential security challenges.

He stressed the need for close coordination and intelligence sharing among different security agencies to effectively thwart any nefarious designs of anti-national elements.

ADG CRPF Rajesh Kumar highlighted the role of the CRPF in ensuring a safe and secure electoral process. He assured that the CRPF, along with other security forces, would leave no stone unturned to maintain peace and tranquillity in the region.

GOC Kilo Force reiterated the Army’s commitment to supporting civil administration and other security agencies in ensuring the peaceful conduct of the elections.

He emphasised the need for a coordinated and synergised approach to tackle security threats effectively.

During the meeting, several new strategies and measures were discussed to enhance the security apparatus, including intensified anti-terror operations, enhanced area domination exercises, and the strategic mobilisation of forces in sensitive areas.

The officials also reviewed the existing security arrangements and decided to further strengthen them to counter any potential threats from terrorists or anti-social elements.

They emphasised the importance of proactive and preemptive measures to maintain law and order during the election period.

The meeting concluded with a resolve to work together cohesively to ensure the safety and security of the people and to facilitate smooth and peaceful conduct of the Lok Sabha elections in north Kashmir.
