New Delhi, Apr 19: Indian passengers travelling to or transiting through Dubai International Airport are urged to consider rescheduling non-essential travel until operations return to normalcy. This advisory comes in response to the temporary limitation of inbound flights at the airport due to unprecedented weather conditions in the UAE earlier this week.

Authorities in the UAE are working tirelessly to restore normal operations at the airport. However, the situation remains unprecedented, prompting airport authorities to advise passengers to travel to the airport only after receiving final confirmation from their respective airlines regarding departure details.

To assist Indian nationals at the Dubai International Airport, the Consulate General of India in Dubai has activated emergency helpline numbers since April 17, 2024. These 24×7 helpline numbers are as follows: +971501205172, +971569950590, +97150734767.

Although some inbound flights cautiously resumed on Thursday and the airport is limping back to normal activities,  the overall functionality of Dubai International Airport, a crucial travel hub, continues to be severely impacted.

The recent storm that hit the UAE caused flooding on roads and critical sections of the airport, exacerbating challenges for travellers and authorities.

Tragically, the flash floods claimed the lives of 20 individuals in Oman and one in the UAE. Emergency services are working diligently to clear waterlogged roads and assist those stranded.

As thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds persist, authorities have issued warnings, prompting Oman to evacuate over 1,400 individuals to shelters and close schools and government offices.

UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has ordered a comprehensive review of the country’s infrastructure affected by the adverse weather conditions, emphasizing support for affected families and a reassessment of safety measures.
