BJP admitted having failed to win hearts of J&K people: Omar Abdullah

Srinagar, Apr 19: National Conference (NC) Vice President Omar Abdullah today said that BJP by not fielding its candidates in the three parliamentary constituencies in Kashmir has admitted that it has failed to win the hearts of people here.

He, however, said the saffron party is not completely out of the contest since it is commanding the situation from back through Apni Party and People’s Conference.

Omar was talking to media persons. “By not fielding the candidates BJP has admitted that it has failed to win the hearts of people here. The people are more angry with it after the August 5, 2019 decisions. BJP says it will win the hearts of people first. But it had not waiting for this in 2019 parliamentary polls in 2019 when it fielded candidates in all the constituencies. All the three candidates were defeated then,”he said.

BJP is commanding now the situation from back . “The meeting between BJP’s Tarun Chugh and Apni Party and People’s Conference leaders was held for this purpose. In Jammu the union home minister Amit Shah talked about defeating NC, Congress and INDIA bloc but he did not talk about defeating Apni Party or Peoples Conference,” Omar said.

Earlier, Omar y said that people of Jammu and Kashmir are fed up with BJP, which is using politics of deception and deceit to meet its political ends.

According to a press release, he was addressing a workers convention of party functionaries of Gurez constituency at the party headquarters Nawai Subha, Srinagar.

Omar said the minorities particularly Muslims are looking for meaningful existence as they continue to remain marginalised. “People of Gurez are no exception to it. Our people there feel equally deprived and marginalized. Despite so much talk about development, the long pending demands of the people of Gurez continue to remain unmet. Talk on bringing Kashmir on tourism map, bridging development divide, providing jobs to youth, providing accessibility to far-flung areas continues to remain confined to papers only. However the ground situation in Gurez is contrary to the claims made by the government,” he said.
