INDIA bloc will win all 6 LS seats in J&K, Ladakh: Dr Farooq Abdullah

Srinagar, Apr 13: National Conference (NC) President Dr Farooq Abdullah today said that the I.N.D.I.A bloc will win all the six Lok Sabha (LS) seats in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

He was talking to media persons on the sidelines of a party function. National Conference (NC) and Congress, which are part of the I.N.D.I.A block are jointly contesting the parliamentary polls and supporting each other in J&K and Ladakh. NC is contesting Srinagar, Baramulla, and Anantnag-Rajouri constituencies, while Congress Jammu, Udhampur and Ladakh seats. Another I.N.D.I.A block constituent, PDP, is also contesting Srinagar, Baramulla and Anantnag-Rajouri constituencies and supporting Congress for two seats in Jammu.

“ We are very much hopeful that I.N.D.I.A bloc will win all the six seats,” Dr Farooq Abdullah said. Asked about the allegation by BJP leaders that NC, Congress and PDP are promoting dynasty politics, he said,” This issue was explained in detail yesterday by Omar (Abdullah) sahib during the press conference. If an actor’s son or daughter wants to become an actor, he or she does not have to contest elections. They simply go into the profession. Similarly, if an industrialist’s son or daughter wants to become an industrialist they too become so without fighting polls. But in democracy if a politician’s family member wants to join politics he or she has to fight the election, get the votes from people and win. Later, they have again to go to people in next polls to get votes on his or her performance. They have to get elected. Where does the question of dynasty politics arise? We are elected people.”

He stated that a number of family members of BJP leaders are in politics. The NC President alleged that BJP is resorting to disinformation campaign against the opposition. About Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s assurance that the statehood will be restored soon to Jammu and Kashmir, Dr Farooq said why does not he grant it now. “What is he waiting for,” he said.

Earlier, Dr Farooq Abdullah and NC Vice President Omar Abdullah welcomed prominent leader, Ex -MLA Surankote Choudhary Muhammad Akram into National Conference.

Welcoming the new entrant into party fold, the duo said that Choudhary is a senior politician who has experience of many decades of public working and the party believes that he will further strengthen its underway efforts for the restoration of people’s abridged rights.
