PAGD was an option to fight BJP’s onslaught unitedly: Mehboob Beg

Srinagar, Apr 14: PDP leader and former cabinet minister  Mehboob Beg, today  expressed disappointment over PAGD’s failure to provide an opportunity to the people to express their anger and resentment towards BJP for what they did to the people of the state starting from August 5, 2019 till date.

According to a press release, he was addressing a party meeting in Anantnag. Beg said BJP starting with depriving the people of the special constitutional provision, a solemn commitment by the republic of India to the permanent residents of the state. He said that alarming rise in unemployment of  youth, snatching away their lands, raids, dismissal of people from government jobs, installation of smart meters, stopping of food rations, bulldozing of homes and livelihoods and enrollment of non state subjects as voters are some of the steps.

“But a united fight on these seats would have send a clear signal that people in Kashmir have rejected BJP’s repressive treatment of our own people. Unfortunately the president of the PAGD choose party interest above and over the interests of the people. Their unilateral decision of announcing party candidates for upcoming parliamentary elections even without consulting PAGD members smacks of arrogance. I appeal to the voters to vote for the party candidates who they think can speak loudly, clearly and fearlessly for their rights in the parliament,” he said.
