4 drug peddlers booked under PIT-NDPS Act in Sopore: Police

Sopore, Apr 27: Four drug peddlers were arrested under the PIT-NDPS Act in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, Police said Saturday.

A statement of J&K Police issued here said that after receiving a formal detention order from the competent authority, all four drug peddlers were booked under PIT-NDPS Act and were identified as, Parvaiz Ahmad Khan of Model Town ‘C’ Sopore; Waseem Ahmad Hajam of Dooru Peer Mohalla; Shahbaz Ahmad Dangroo of Machipora Bomai, Sopore; and Sharafatullah Shah of Shalpora Sopore, presently living at Shalimar Colony, Sopore.

   

The official said that they had been taken into custody and were now held at Central Jail Kot Balwal, Jammu.

“Many cases were registered against these drug smugglers. However, they were still involved in drug abuse by supplying drugs among the youth across the Police District Sopore and in other parts of Kashmir,” they said.
