Poonch, Apr 21: Police in Poonch district have lodged twenty five drug peddlers in jail after taking action under preventive sections of law against them.
In an official statement, Poonch Police said that tightening the noose against drug peddlers in the district, Poonch Police have booked 25 chronic drug peddlers under preventive measures in the district.
” The drug peddlers have been lodged in jail for one month’s period,” police said, informing that the offenders hail from various parts across the district and have been found involved in peddling of drugs in their areas.
These individuals are also implicated in different cases of NDPS Act and pose a potential threat to the lives of the younger generation of the district, police said.
It was also reported by many people and intelligence agencies that these individuals might pose a threat to the peaceful electioneering process during the upcoming elections, police further stated.
